"Time...?" is a multimedia improvisational performance that aims to break the boundary between music and painting to create an immersive space for discussing the subjectivity and objectivity of time. The performance has a duration of one hour. Within this hour, time is expressed through two different forms: music and improvisational ink painting. In the performance, we incorporate a special sound technology device called the Mayo Mapper, a white wristband that transforms horizontal and vertical movements into bird-like sounds. By wearing the wristband, the ink artist also becomes a part of the music performance; every line, dot, and surface he creates with his movements becomes music that interacts with the improvisational music performance of the musician.
Apart from being an objective concept in physics, time is a malleable experience shaped by our subjectivity. Time flows with our sensations and emotions. Within this improvisational multimedia performance, we ask our audience what the hour means to them. Rather than seeking a uniform definition of time, we aim to experience the subjectivity of time and live in the open-ended nature of the present moment.
